The end of April marked an important construction milestone at our Hilton Garden Inn Peterborough City Centre. A topping-out ceremony was enjoyed by our team and leaders of the Peterborough City Council to celebrate the completion of the roof, glazing and flooring installation in the Sky Bar, and signage now being visible from the exterior of the building.
During their visit, guests enjoyed a tour of the hotel, which included a viewing of the contemporary mock-up guestrooms and the incredible top-floor Sky Bar, which continues to impress visitors with beautiful panoramic views of the town centre, the river Nene, and the Peterborough cathedral. The event also included an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the stunning roof-top terrace and a celebratory cake was served.
Among the visitors at the ceremony was Steve Cassidy, the managing director of Hilton UK and Ireland, who commented: “It has been a challenging couple of years in construction generally, but we are pleased to see the rapid progress today,” adding that “Peterborough is a very attractive location for us, and we are honoured to be part of its positive transformation journey.”
Leaders of the local council were equally impressed. Cllr Wayne Fitzgerald also mentioned: “We’ve had Covid in the world, but the progress has been remarkable, and we’ve lent money to this project – and now we’re making more money from it, which is a great thing. We had criticism of our vision to bring it here, but we had confidence in the city. Fitzgerald continued to state that “Peterborough is a booming place – we can’t build things fast enough to meet the demand. This is a place to invest money.”
The growing demand in Peterborough has been a fantastic opportunity for us at Propiteer Capital, and the new Hilton Garden Inn is aspiring to be the city’s finest hotel yet, with an aim to transform the city’s landscape. The hotel will offer impeccable quality all-round with close monitoring and assessments carried out by the Hilton group for consistency, accuracy, and high standard.
Once open, the hotel will contain 160 rooms over 9 storeys, with a range of twin, double, and executive suites. The pinnacle of the hotel experience will be the Sky Bar, which will be a key attraction for both locals and tourists, as well as those simply coming to enjoy a drink or meal without staying at the hotel.
It’s been incredibly encouraging to see the continued excitement from all parties involved in bringing the new Hilton hotel in Peterborough to life, and despite delays, we’re glad to have been able to celebrate this important event to mark that we’re making excellent progress. We’re very excited to open the hotel to visitors in January 2023.
