We’re excited to share the news that our partner, Propiteer Hotels, has invested in the latest solar photovoltaic technology at our Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport hotel. The team has contributed £160k to the project and installed solar panels on the roof of our hotel as part of a successful sustainability programme. The panels are projected to renewably provide 20% of the hotel’s energy consumption and reduce its carbon emissions by 77,000kg each year, which equates to approximately 2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions being avoided over the 25-year life of the technology. With electric charging bays already available in the car park, this is a fantastic next step for our hotel’s and the Hilton brand’s eco-friendly progress towards an aligned greener future. Director of Propiteer Hotels, Richard Martin comments: “We are keen to align our hotels with renewables and contribute to Exeter Hotels net zero objectives. We are also reviewing opportunities to add green technologies to our other hotels.”
Hilton also runs a nationwide, award-winning sustainability tool called LightStay, which was introduced in 2009. The system allows each hotel to track its environmental and social impact by measuring, managing, and forecasting its energy, water, and waste usage. So far, LightStay has helped Hilton properties save over $1 billion in utility costs and significantly cut down on carbon emissions.
