Following our successful planning committee appearance in June 2021, a date which had already been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the formal planning notice for the new Hampton by Hilton hotel in Duxford was issued on 6th September 2021.
Unfortunately, our long-term objector and a local commercial competitor initiated the process of objecting to the consent and requested a judicial review. However, we are pleased to confirm that this complaint was refused by the Courts before the complainant withdrew their subsequent appeal on 1st March 2022.
Director of Propiteer Hotels Mike Aspinall comments: “We are delighted to have successfully secured planning consent for the Hampton by Hilton Duxford hotel despite the challenges faced.
This exciting scheme will deliver 168 bedrooms into a key UK hotel market and will offer guests unrivalled views across the historic IWM Duxford airfield.
We look forward to commencing construction on site later in the year.”
Propiteer Ltd is now finalising the design pack for the construction of the hotel, which will go out to contractors and enable them to tend to the project. The selected contractor will then be appointed and work will begin on this high-profile site.
